Celebrating Christmas In Paradise!!

Dorothy, Miles (My Third Son) and I celebrated the Holidays, 2003 in Ft. Myers and Marco Island with our family.

Celebrating Christmas In Paradise!! 2003 Style

Nothing Better Than Cruising the Waterways around Marco Island and Naples with Your Sport Fisherman "All Decked Out" With Christmas Cheer Lights!!

We had 15 Friends and Family Members Cruise Down Marco River Past the Snook Inn and into the Sunset, witnessing Marco Island Dressed in its Holiday Lighting!

U WANNA IGUANA!!

October 5, 2003

Walking out to check on the boat, I ALMOST STEP on this 4+' IGUANA!

It's a Jungle Out There!

I followed it to a neighbors palm tree where he "Hangs Out"....

Manatees, Dolphins, and now IGUANA....GREAT ENTERTAINMENT!

March, 2003

My Three Sons ham it up for pictures for my birthday (Again!)...

Scott (27) is in Film Directing at University of Central Florida.

Kenn (21) attends Florida Gulf Coast University in Estero, FL also in Film Acting/Directing curriculum.

Miles is the 11 year old attending Tommie Barfield Elementary on Marco Island, FL and he is the Team Leader and Starting Pitcher for the Marco Island Marlins Little League Baseball team....GO MARLINS!!

PLAY BALL!

My third son, Miles L. Wilkins, continues in the tradition of playing America's Favorite Pasttime Sport...Baseball!

Good Luck for another great year ....he's headed for the "Big Leagues"!!

RVing to Bradenton Beach/Anna Maria Island

RVing is fun enough, but when you add the views and Beaches on the Gulf of Mexico at your front wheels, this one AWESOME experience!

We drove to Cortez, FL Holiday Cove RV Resort near Bradenton Beach over the 2002 Thanksgiving holiday weekend and experienced views of the Gulf of Mexico through the windows of our RV. Great Times with wife, Dorothy and my third son, Miles.

Weather was crisp and cold overnight, but warmed to low 70's in the afternoon. What a GREAT COUNTRY we live in....the USA!!

Corvette Lap at the Daytona Speedway

Just before the start of the 1999 Daytona Rolex 24 Hour Race, I drove our Black Corvette ZR-1 in the "Corvette Lap" around the Daytona Speedway...What a RUSH!!

Daytona Rolex 24 Hour Race - 2001

DAYTONA SPEEDWAY:
Pictured at left is Paul Gentilozzi and Michael Wilkins just before the start of the 2001 Daytona Rolex 24 Hour Race at the Daytona Speedway.

Gentilozzi went on to win the Daytona Rolex 24 Hour GTS Class that race and has won the SCCA Points Championship three consecutive times!!

Sports Car Racing-Sebring

SEBRING RACEWAY:
On a recent RV trip to Sebring, November 10, 2002 we visited the Sebring Raceway and found the Corvette GTS-class cars performing tire tests on the track.

Best times seemed to be 65 - 70 seconds per lap.

We've watched the Corvettes finally position themselves in sports car racing history by winning the GTS Class in the Rolex 24 Hour, Sebring 12 Hour, and the Le Mans 24 Hour races over the past few years....Go Corvettes!

Cruising and Deep Sea Fishing in The Gulf Stream!!

With Marco Island, FL being the largest island of the Ten Thousand Islands and located between the civilized world and The Florida Everglades, fishing, boating and cruising are very popular past times here!!

We enjoy cruising to a variety of locations on the SW FLA coast (Keewaydin Island, Naples Bay, Ft. Myers Beach, South Seas Plantation Resort, Boca Grande, Cabbage Key) and the Florida Keys (Key West, Little Palm Island, Marathon, Hawk's Cay Resort and Key Largo) to name a few....

"The One That Got Away!"

As you can see in the above picture, I recently caught a large 5 lb. Spanish Mackerel in the Gulf of Mexico about 1.5 miles west of Marco Island...this is the one that got away from my wife, Dorothy.

She is an avid fisherman but when the fish took our 12" long trolling lure, I grabbed the rod and reeled it in before she could "Fish On!".....Hence, for her, it was truly "The One That Got Away!"

Our next planned trip will be to the Rod & Gun Club at Everglades City....lunch on the Veranda and Olde Florida at its Best!!

Visit here often for more updates on trips....and, oh yes.....ENJOY!!
